G-Shot Contest Winners Announced

At long last the judges of the G-Shot contest have completed their daunting and challenging task of going through almost 600 entries and selecting a single winner for each category. The winners are being announced throughout the week starting from Monday, doing one category for each day.

BEST STRAIGHT BUILD WINNER

ELBERT ISSAC – MG 1/100 GUNDAM EXIA IGNITION MODE

What can I say? We’ve got a very nice and clean build. Panel lining is crisp and fine and the overall photography is great. A brilliant submission and a much deserved win.

BEST PAINT JOB WINNER

STIVEN DANIEL RUSLI – MG 1/100 ASTRAY RED FRAME KAI CUSTOMIZED

I had a feeling that this entry would be a winner the moment I saw it. Lovin’ the metallic indigo shine and the black parts along with the claw gives it a cool edge. The final touches with the gold gives it a professional looking finish so props to you Stiven for doing a brilliant job with this kit.

BEST CUSTOMISED GUNPLA WINNER

CRAIG CLARK – HG 1/144 Geara Zulu

A very interesting mod of the Geara Zulu. Though I’m not a terribly big fan of the steampunk theme, I like how all the cogs, rivets and piping is placed in such a convincing way. Not sure about the colour scheme though… is it meant to be military camo? If so I think the red and yellow patches seem a bit off. To be honest I was more impressed with Zeta Gundam Blackbird Custom, but this entry still deserves the position of being the category winner.

BEST DIORAMA WINNER

NATHANIEL S BARRERA

GIOVANNI HILARIO

What’s this? We’ve got a tied win for the diorama category? Well I’ll be… right, better keep this brief. Nathaniel’s entry is simply stunning, it’s well composed, great use of assets, wonderfully built models and environment. I really like how the people in the scene are actually running in panic, it really emphasises the drama happening in this scene. Simply put this sure is a winner. The entry by Giovanni isn’t quite as good as you’d expect from a catergory winner. It’s essentially the same compsition as Nathaniel’s entry but with less happening around the two mobile suits. Though I have to admit it is very brave of him to compose this with actual fire which is something I wouldn’t dare to do with my models, couldn’t take that risk.

BEST PHOTO WINNER

GUNDAM ASTRAY DD

Now this is pretty incredible. Another example of a ‘the moment you see it you know you have a winner’ entry. I’m completely stunned by how amazing this entry is, it’s just so good. The lighting of this diorama pretty much the reason why I thought this would win, so many pretty little LEDs cleverly placed really breathes life into this composition.
